Restaurant and bar opening times

What's on the menu
The Dining Menu starts with dishes such as the soup of the day, crab on toast and gambas pil pil, plus sharing boards with deli meats, plant-based bites or seafood. Mains include traditional fish and chips and a "posh" version with pan-roasted cod loin, artisan pies (steak and ale, Northumbrian game, creamy chicken, ham and tarragon, or cheddar, potato and onion), burgers, sirloin and ribeye steaks, salads, rainbow bowls and Thai coconut curries.
If you eat vegetarian or vegan, dishes are marked (V) and (VG), and those that can be made gluten free are marked (GFA). If you're travelling with children, there's a kids' menu, and a free drink comes with every kids' main.
The Midland menus (PDF)
You can see all of the hotel's current menus, with dishes and prices:
Sunday lunch
On Sundays, from 12pm to 5pm, the hotel serves roast pork with crackling, turkey breast, topside of beef and lamb with mint sauce, plus a vegetarian sweet potato, chickpea and lentil roast. Every roast comes with creamy mashed potato, roast potatoes, vegetables, gravy and a Yorkshire pudding. Roasts are subject to availability, so it's worth booking a table.
Afternoon tea at The Midland
The hotel's current menus don't include afternoon tea. If you'd like something sweet in the afternoon, coffee and cake is served every day from 11am to 5pm, and the drinks list has teas such as breakfast tea, Earl Grey, green, peppermint and camomile. From Monday to Saturday, sandwiches and light bites are also served at the same times.

The Rotunda Bar and drinks
The Rotunda Bar is at the centre of the building. The drinks list includes white, rosé and red wines, champagne and fizz, cocktails such as the Espresso Martini and Aperol Spritz, low and no-alcohol options, after-dinner drinks, coffees and teas.
On Thursdays from 12pm there's Steak & Wine Thursday: an 8oz sirloin with a glass of wine.
Booking a table
You can book a table online up to 3 hours in advance, and walk-ins are welcome too. Tables are held for 15 minutes. Groups of more than 8 may be asked for a deposit, and bookings for 9 or more are handled as a request.
If you're bringing your dog, there are areas of the pub where dogs are welcome, with water bowls. And if you're coming by car, the hotel car park is free, on a first come, first served basis.
